Canada Greener Homes Grant

The Greener Homes Grant is available to eligible homeowners across Canada. To qualify, you must provide proof of ownership, demonstrate that the property is your primary residence, and ensure that your property type is eligible for the grant.

Grant benefits include:

1. A maximum of $600 for a comprehensive home assessment and professional guidance to plan your upgrades.
2. Up to $5,000 in total to support energy efficiency improvements in your home.

Homeowners across Canada can take advantage of the Greener Homes Grant, regardless of their location.

To be eligible, you must:

• Verify property ownership with your property tax bill number (located on your municipal property documents).
• Confirm the property is your primary residence with a driver’s license, government-issued ID (with address), or utility bill.

The Greener Homes Grant caters to a variety of property types, including:

• Single-family and semi-detached homes
• Rowhouses and townhouses
• Permanent foundation mobile homes
• Fixed floating homes
• Low-rise multi-unit residential buildings (up to three stories or 600m2 [6,458ft2] in footprint)
• Mixed-use structures (residential sections only, up to three stories or 600m2 [6,458ft2] in footprint)
• Year-round cottages

The initiative also extends to the following groups:

• Indigenous governments or organizations (e.g., band councils, land claim entities)
• Housing management organizations and other representatives or Indigenous service providers with official partnerships with Indigenous governments or organizations

These applicants may qualify to register several properties, even those not used as the owner’s primary residence. The registered property must be owned by the applicant and inhabited by an Indigenous family.
